Bluey
As a mother I am used to watching many animation series and by many, I mean many. Not only because of the kids but also because I like watching anime myself. I grew up watching Japanese series that were very popular in my time. They were different from the American-style animation. The former introduces some educational aspects while the latter[1] concentrates mainly on entertainment and fun.
I can’t remember how many times, I asked my children to turn off the channel and see something else because of the content and try to explain why such a behavior is not acceptable. I assume no parents will be happy if their kids learn such a behavior that is being introduced. I asked myself why such content is being introduced and if creators see it as a source of success. This has changed when my kids started watching Bluey. Honestly, I didn’t like it at the beginning but later when I started watching it properly, I changed my mind completely. The way that important educational topics are introduced simply and clearly is great. I reacted emotionally to the episodes sometimes I laugh, I see myself in there and others I cry. Watching the series with my kids brings me joy and makes me think that introducing an educational aspect to an anime and being successful is actually doable. So why aren’t all the animations like this, I don’t know.
Every parent knows how our kids are affected by what they see on TV. Its effect is stronger than what you can try to teach them for months. If we want the world to be a better place, it is important to introduce to our kids a respectful content. Not something that teaches them bullying and disrespect.
[1] Not all of them but the majority especially the series not the movies.
